Take oral health seriously, your body already does.

The practice that I have been fortunate enough to work in for over 35 years is the Sydney Holistic Dental Centre, in Sydney CBD. I have worked in partnership with my brother, Dr Joshua Ehrlich, for all of that time. It has been, and continues to be, a very supportive and encouraging professional and (of course) extremely important personal relationship. After almost 40 years of working together, not to mention having shared our lives together. This has been through life’s many celebrations, challenges, occasional tragedies and we are closer than ever.

Over 25 years ago, we were very fortunate to be joined by Dr Craig Wilson, who has made a huge contribution to the practice, overseeing and guiding its management while being supportive and encouraging. Not only did Craig graduate from Sydney University with 1st class honours, he continues every day to be a 1st class health practitioner, dentist and friend. Craig is continuously learning and challenging himself. While not related, I often describe him as ‘a brother from another mother’, and he has always provided great wisdom, guidance and balance to our collective dynamic.

Over 10 years ago, Dr Yin Yin Teoh, whom I also consider family and describe her as a ‘sister from another mister’, joined us as well. Dr Yin Yin provides us with a wonderful energy and empathy as well as specialised interest in the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain and imbalance (TMJ dysfunction), chronic tension headaches and neck aches , cranial and postural imbalances, incorporating breathing and the function of the oral musculature (Myofunctional therapy). Apart from her caring nature she is also, technically skilled and a superb dentist. We are lucky to have her as part of the team and a partner in steering the practice.

In recent years, my nephew Dr Lewis Ehrlich (Dr Josh’s son) has become part of our ‘dental’ family. Having literally been exposed to the ideas on health for the last 30 years (much of which I discuss in my book, A Life Less Stressed: the 5 pillars of health and wellness). Dr Lewis has also been immersed in the workings of a holistic dental practice throughout his life and has developed his own interest in health and wellness from a unique holistic perspective. Dr Lewis graduated with the Academic Medal and that is reflected in his daily practice. Not only is he a great dentist technically, with a wonderful chair side manner and care of patients, but he is also a qualified holistic health coach, a former professional soccer player and a qualified personal trainer. Lewis has brought a whole new energy and enthusiasm for holistic health, which has influenced us all in the practice.

At Sydney Holistic Dental Centre, we are fortunate to also be supported by a great team…. we simply couldn’t do it without them. It is exciting for us all to be working together, after so many years and with still so much to learn. I have often said that the more I learn, the more I realise I don’t know, and working as a team with my ‘dental family’ enriches the journey. Each one is special and I am grateful to work alongside, and be connected with them all.
